Terms and Conditions

In making use of the public access computers available at any Maribyrnong City Council Library branch, users must abide by the following conditions:
- Maribyrnong Libraries Code of Conduct
- General PCs are available for 120-minute sessions and users can choose to extend their sessions if all PCs are not in use. Express PCs are set to 30-minute sessions and cannot be extended.
- The facilities are to be used in a responsible manner, taking into consideration the laws on copyright, privacy, harassment and libel.
- Users of Council's public access computers must not use Internet access and/or email to access or transmit material and statements which are:
  * Illegal or fraudulent or part of an unlawful activity.
   * Slanderous, libellous and/or defamatory.
   * Offensive, obscene, pornographic, objectionable.
   * Abusive and/or threatening of violence.
   * Incitement to break the law.
   * Harassment based on sex, race, disability or other protected status.
   * Anonymous or repeated messages designed to annoy, threaten or abuse.
- Parents/Guardians are responsible for minors' use of computer equipment and access to the Internet.
- Due consideration and respect must be given to other members of the public and to staff by ensuring that booking time limits are adhered to, and that other users' privacy in using the equipment is respected.
- Users must not damage, destroy or modify equipment, software or data belonging to the Maribyrnong City Council, nor violate, or attempt to violate, any computer network system security.
- Users should notify staff if they experience any problems with the equipment or with access to the Internet.
Users who intentionally misuse the facilities, or fail to comply with the Conditions of Use, may have their access privileges removed.
